Wedding bands are more than pieces of jewelry, they are symbols of a couple's commitment to one another.  The tradition of wedding bands dates back to the ancient Egyptians, Romans, and Greeks.  Rings have traditionally been worn as a matched set to symbolize the unity of their marriage.

In recent years, the tradition of matching wedding bands has seen a slight change in direction, with many brides and grooms wanting their own individual style.  However, for many brides and grooms the tradition is still very much alive and the romance of traditional matching wedding bands is the only choice for them.

History of Wedding Bands

Throughout history cultures have worn symbolic rings to signify their marriage or commitments to one another.  From Egyptian woven hemp bands to more modernprecious metal rings, the meaning and symbolism is the same.  A ring has no beginning and not end, symbolizing the eternity of love.

The placement of the wedding bands is also symbolic.  Wedding bands are traditional worn on the fourth finger of the left hand because Roman's believed the "vena amoris" or the vein of love ran directly from that finger to the heart.

The culture of matching wedding bands has shifted over the years from plain gold wedding rings to rings that are matching in design elements, yet still allow brides and grooms freedom to select a ring that they truly love. This allows couples to have a symbolic, and traditional, set of wedding bands, while acknowledging modern trends in bridal style.

Unique Matching Wedding Bands

Today, there are many unique options for matching wedding bands and lots of simple ways to customize a ring to your exact style. This can be done by:
